The Miyan Village is located at the west end of the Zhangshui Basin in Yinzhou District, where the large and small Jiao Rivers converge. It is one of the famous historical and cultural villages in Ningbo. Its name, Miyan (translated as Honey Rock), is derived from a mountain next to the village, where wild bees build nests and store honey in the rocks for a long time.
蜜巖村地處鄞西山區(qū)章水盆地西端，大、小皎水系匯源之地，是寧波市首批歷史文化名村。之所以命名為“蜜巖”，是因為村旁有蜜山，有野蜂分巢巖石，歲久積蜜，故以蜜巖為村名。
The Miyan Village is the hometown of the Ying family, who have lived here for nearly a thousand years. There are many historic sites in the village. Most of the existing buildings were built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The more distinctive ones are Old Street, Changdawu Street, Guifu Hall, Zhongzhai Gate, Shuangjiushan House, among others.
蜜巖村是應氏一族聚居之處，距今已有近千年歷史。村中古跡眾多，現(xiàn)存建筑多為明清時期，清代為多，較有特色的有老街、長大屋街、桂馥堂、中宅墻門、雙韭山房等。
The Ying family in Miyan Village has always valued culture and education. To provide education for the family members, Ying Wensheng and his son Ying Guixin founded the "Chongyi School" for children in the village for free. Besides, Ying Weiqing and Ying Cunfu respectively founded the "Yuyu National School" and "Mishan National School". The village has since been regarded as a local culture hub.
蜜巖村應氏家族歷來重視文教，為解決族人的教育問題，村人應文生及其子應桂馨創(chuàng)辦了“崇義學堂”，免費招納村中子弟。又有應維青、應存甫分別創(chuàng)建了“愈愚國民學校”“蜜山國民學校”，塑造了濃厚的文化氛圍。
